After working for several weeks on a "meditation and spirituality" theme, my instructor suggested that I move into a more risquè territory. She challenged me to start the project over again and take on the theme of drug addiction, as she felt spirituality was too clichè and "shallow" a topic for me to cover. Furthermore, a dark topic such as drug addiction would give me the opportunity to see how beautifully I could use type to portray something so incredibly ugly.
